Standard reinforcing bar hook configurations illustrate bend diameters and extension lengths for structural concrete applications. The 135-degree hook for ties and stirrups of number 5 and smaller requires a six bar diameter extension or two and a half inches minimum. The 90-degree bar hook incorporates a thirteen bar diameter hooked development length with a twelve bar diameter extension. The 180-degree bar hook utilizes a four bar diameter extension or two and a half inches minimum with a thirteen bar diameter hooked development length. Minimum bend diameters for bend D are specified as six bar diameters for number 8 or smaller, and eight bar diameters for number 9.
