Cold-formed steel wall studs sized per plan terminate into a slotted slip track where required. Number eight by nine-nineteenth inch waferhead framing screws secure the stud webs to the track flanges and are positioned at the center of the slot to allow vertical movement. The depth of the slot must equal one-half of the structural member span divided by two-hundred forty, maintaining a one-half inch minimum clearance.
