This connection features a diagonal brace member attached to a column and beam assembly using a gusset plate with a thickness of t. The gusset plate is specified as 1/2 inch by beam depth minus 3 inches, fabricated from Grade 50 steel, and includes erection bolts. The brace is connected to the gusset plate with a fillet weld of size Wb and length Lb on each side, typically. The gusset plate is welded to the column and beam with a 3/8 inch fillet weld on three sides, with a 1/2 inch clearance provided. The beam-to-column connection utilizes bolted shear tabs, with beams sized per plan and the column sized per plan.
