This assembly features a hollow structural section column supported by a two-inch thick steel base plate. The column is reinforced with cruciform gusset plates, which are attached to the column faces with bevel welds matching the flange thickness. The base plate is secured to the concrete footing using twelve one-and-one-quarter-inch diameter Grade 105 heavy hex head anchor bolts with eighteen-inch embedment. Each anchor bolt includes a five-eighths-inch by four-inch square washer. The gusset plates are welded to the base plate with five-eighths-inch fillet welds at all corners.
