A steel column sits on a steel base plate bedded on non-shrink grout over a concrete pier or footing. The column assembly integrates with a concrete foundation wall and a concrete slab on grade, maintaining three inches of minimum concrete cover around the column base. Horizontal wall reinforcement continues through the concrete pier, and three ties are spaced in the top five inches of the pier. A blockout in the slab is poured solid after the column has been installed.
