A concrete slab over metal deck runs parallel to a wide-flange steel beam. Headed shear studs are welded through the metal deck into the top flange of the wide-flange beam to provide composite action. The metal deck reinforcement is sized per the structural schedule, and the concrete thickness is sized per plan. In the off-center configuration, the high flute of the deck is cut and welded to the beam with a minimum two-inch overlap. Additional information not shown on the off-center detail is referenced back to the centered deck parallel detail.
