A sloping wide flange beam frames into a concrete masonry unit wall pocket with a minimum twelve-inch bearing width on a bearing plate matching the beam flange. One-quarter-inch full height stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web with five-sixteenth-inch fillets, and a plate with welded dowels is embedded in the wall. Metal decking spans over the top flange of the beam and fastens to the wide flange per plan. Chord bars are placed within the grouted masonry bond beam above the pocket, and the contractor must shore the masonry face shell as required.
