A chevron or diagonal brace connection frames into a concrete column and steel beam assembly utilizing an L8x8x3/4 structural steel brace welded with 5/16-inch fillet welds to a 1/2-inch A572-50 gusset plate. The gusset plate is welded to a 3/4-x-18-x-2-foot-8-inch base plate embedded with ten 3/4-inch diameter studs at 12 inches on center and reinforced with two number 5 rebars. The assembly anchors to a concrete column using four 1/2-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 36 anchor rods with non-shrink grout underneath the base plate. Threaded rod anchorage with heavy hex nuts, washers, and staked threads extends 6 inches below the base plate.
