Steel angle members span between adjacent joists to support the roof drain assembly. For joist spacings up to 6 feet, 3 inch by 3 inch by 1/4 inch angles are used; spacings greater than 6 feet require 4 inch by 4 inch by 1/4 inch angles. These angles support the roof deck at the drain opening. Plumbing drawings determine the specific location and size of the roof drain and overflow drain.
