An American Institute of Steel Construction standard pipe sleeve is installed with a length matching the thickness of the concrete wall or grade beam, featuring four half-inch diameter by six-inch welded headed studs. The sleeve diameter "d" is sized to the outside diameter of the pipe plus a minimum of one inch of clearance all around, maintaining a typical two-inch clear spacing. Reinforcing bars are adjusted by the minimum amount required to provide this clearance. When required to install around existing piping, the sleeve is cut and welded, where dimension "A" equals half the sleeve wall thickness. All pipe sleeve locations and spacing must be submitted to the engineer for review and approval prior to installation.
