An L6x6x5/8 structural angle kicker brace connects two wide flange support beams carrying a concrete slab on metal deck. Half-inch thick gusset plates, clipped to clear the beam fillets, weld to the beam webs with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Seven-eighths-inch diameter A325X bolts secure each end of the angle brace through the gusset plates. At the composite deck above, one additional three-quarter-inch diameter shear stud is provided at the brace location. Field welding of connection plates remains at the fabricator's option.
