A half-inch thick steel plate is welded to one side of the wide flange beam web to reinforce a pipe penetration. The reinforcement plate features a cut-out hole that is sized one-quarter inch larger than the pipe penetration in the beam. A one-quarter inch fillet weld attaches the plate to the beam web. The plate has a height of one foot six inches with angled edges meeting at one hundred thirty-degree corners.
