An L4x4x1/4 angle brace connects to the top flange of the nearest steel beam below a metal roof deck. A one-quarter-inch by five-inch by five-inch plate is welded at each brace using three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. The brace is skewed as required to meet the framing geometry perpendicular to the joist.
