A steel joist ties into a column support beneath a 3x6 Douglas Fir number two minimum member at the warehouse, secured with a five-eighth-inch diameter machine bolt. A joist brace configured per manufacturer recommendations attaches with four 10d nails. The top chord receives a steel strap such as a Simpson MST37 with forty-two 16d nails or a Simpson MST27 with thirty 16d nails, split evenly into each member. Two rows of continuous edge nailing are provided at strapped members, utilizing four lines where nailing is staggered and six lines where three lines are required. An extra layer of ninety-pound felt or equal per roofer recommendation covers the exposed steel strap.
