A concrete shear wall boundary element is reinforced with an embedded structural steel shape and headed welded studs at six inches on center each face. The boundary element measures two feet two inches square, tied with number four closed ties at five inches on center. Wall reinforcement consists of number five bars spaced per wall elevation, anchoring into the boundary zone with standard clearances. The adjoining wall section transitions to a thickness of one foot two inches with two inches typical clear cover.
