This cold-formed steel slip and deflection track assembly accommodates vertical movement using a 625T200-54 deflection track combined with a 600T300-54 deep leg inside track. The inside dimension of the outer track is sized one-quarter inch greater than the stud depth to permit unhindered deflection. Metal studs are fastened using one number 10-16 self-drilling screw per stud flange, maintaining a one-half inch clearance from the screw to the track leg and a one-half inch vertical gap. Stud blocking is required within six inches of the deflection track, and sheathing must be fastened directly into this blocking rather than the deflection track. An isometric view shows the nested track configuration adjacent to full-height windows.
