A davit socket pedestal is welded to a steel plate or beam flange with three-eighths inch typical fillet welds. The pedestal extends upward one foot eight inches through the concrete-filled deck, with a davit socket designed by others mounted at the top. Four number five by six-foot reinforcing bars are placed each way around the pedestal, including standard hooks at the slab edge where applicable. The vertical distance from the top of the roofing to the structural steel varies.
