Continuity plates and stiffeners are welded to the steel column web and flanges to develop full stiffener capacity. Complete joint penetration welds connect the plates to the member, supplemented by typical corner clips with a one-inch radius. A minimum two-and-one-half to one slope transition and three-inch minimum dimension govern the geometry at the connection.
