A structural end connection for a steel core assembly with a casing connects a gusset plate to the steel core plate extension, leaving a one-inch minimum clearance and a specified gap left unwelded on the gusset side only. Transverse stiffeners and casing caps are welded at each end of the casing. The plan and elevation views provide dimensional parameters for the gusset length, edge distances, and plate thicknesses.
