An HSS wind girt connects to a steel stud framing line using a supplier-provided stiff clip connection and a continuous one-quarter-inch bent plate. A one-inch plus-or-minus gap is maintained to accommodate vertical deflection and horizontal drift. The bent plate is welded with one-quarter-inch fillet welds spaced at twelve inches. The assembly accommodates movement between the structural framing and the exterior wall system.
