A stair landing support rod connects to a W-beam using a one-half inch by four inch plate spanning between two three-eighths inch stiffener plates. The support rod passes through a drilled hole in the bottom flange of the W-beam and secures with a nut bearing on the plate. The stiffener plates are positioned to reinforce the beam web and flanges. A notch is provided to avoid the beam's k-area.
