A structural steel non-frame column bears on a steel base plate anchored to a concrete pile cap or pilaster. Anchor bolts feature double nuts, hardened washers, and a half-inch by four-inch square plate washer at the embedded bottom end. A center hole in the base plate matches the anchor bolt hole size for non-shrink grout placement. The column connects to the base plate with welds sized per American Welding Society minimum standards or scheduled specifications. A three-inch layer of non-shrink grout levels the assembly above the top of the concrete support, while number four ties at six-inch spacing reinforce the pile cap.
