A hollow structural section 3x3 post connects to a wide-flange W24 beam above, secured with bolts and a 5/16 fillet weld. Below, a C10x15.3 channel cap stops eight inches short and is paired with a 3/8 inch by 1 foot 1 inch by 3 inch plate on one side of the web. Four 3/4 inch A325 bolts fasten the plate across a S15 member with a 1/16 inch joint clearance. Plug welds are specified to be ground flush to provide a smooth running surface.
