Wide flange girders frame into a hollow structural section column sized per plan. A one-half-inch thick cap plate sits atop the hollow structural section column. The connection uses a kerfed hollow structural section column with a knife plate extended a minimum of three-eighths of an inch beyond the column face, connected per schedule where applicable. A five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld secures the assembly.
