These structural details illustrate typical beam-to-column and beam-to-beam bolted shear connections utilizing a connection plate welded to the supporting wide flange or hollow structural section column and bolted to the supported beam web. The connection plate thickness and the size and number of bolts are specified per schedule, maintaining a minimum edge distance and bolt spacing according to AISC Table 10-10a. The beam flanges are coped where required with specified minimum clearances to accommodate the supporting geometry. Fillet welds of specified sizes secure the connection plate to the support face as indicated unless otherwise noted.
