A hollow structural section beam attaches to a hollow structural section column with full penetration welds and a shop weld at contractor's option in this canopy framing connection. A 3/8" x 3" plate matching the hollow structural section beam depth minus 1" is placed on each side of the beam. A canopy rod and attachment secures to the assembly with a 1/8" clearance at the back face of the bent plate. A metal deck bears above with welding per sheet reference, while a gutter is provided per architectural drawings. All steel exposed to weather receives paint per architectural specifications.
