A structural kicker brace connects to a roof deck or floor deck using a 3/16-inch bent plate attached across a minimum of three deck flutes. The kicker attaches to the bent plate using three number ten screws. For floor decks and parallel roof decks, the bent plate is secured to the deck using three shot pins or powder-actuated fasteners. For perpendicular roof decks, the bent plate is secured with three number ten screws and ties into the supporting roof joist with fillet welds. All powder-actuated fasteners comply with the cold-formed section of the general structural notes.
