A 4-inch standard steel pipe bollard is capped with a one-quarter-inch thick plate welded at the top. The base consists of a three-quarter-inch by eight-inch square steel plate welded to the bottom of the pipe with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld. Four A706 number-4 reinforcing bars measuring two feet in length are welded to the base plate and oriented parallel to slab tendons with a five-inch gauge. Two additional number-4 reinforcing bars measuring five feet in length run horizontally through the slab below the base assembly maintaining a one-inch clearance.
