An open web steel joist is reinforced with an additional diagonal web member consisting of an L2x2x3/16 angle minimum to support a concentrated load P greater than six inches. The supplemental web member is welded between the top and bottom chords adjacent to existing web members to transfer concentrated loads safely through the joist assembly.
