A wide flange beam per structural drawings bears directly onto a cold-formed steel joist sized per section. A 97-mil cold-formed steel clip angle measuring one and one-half inches by as required by six inches long connects to the joist using four number ten screws on each joist. The clip angle is welded to the bottom of the beam with a one-eighth inch fillet weld on the toe and a three-inch long one-eighth inch fillet weld on the heel, with the clip oriented to the bottom of the beam. A maximum vertical clearance of one and one-half inches and a minimum clearance of one and one-half inches are maintained.
