Composite metal deck and concrete topping bear on structural steel beams sized per plan, with shear studs welded through the deck into the beam flange. The deck is laid out to provide a minimum of three inches of contact between the low flute and the flange. Where necessary, the high flute is cut and filler plates are installed between adjacent low flutes.
