Steel beams connect to a steel column web using single-plate shear tabs welded to the column and bolted to the beam webs with high-strength bolts. A half-inch cap plate tops the column, accompanied by web stiffeners aligned with the beam flanges. A metal roof deck bears across the top flanges of the beams. Specific note conditions require field welding of the shear tab at exterior perimeter beams and locations with joist tie plates.
