A structural detail of a seismic expansion joint connection frames into a wide flange column. A wide flange stub connects to the column face with complete joint penetration welds on the top and bottom flanges. A continuous plate with a PTFE surface sliding bearing pad supports a bridge wide flange beam with a ten-inch clearance gap from the column. Typical wide flange beams frame into the opposite side of the column. Concrete on metal deck is omitted for clarity.
