This structural detail shows the edge condition for a concrete slab on metal deck supported by a structural steel edge beam. The assembly uses a twelve-gauge continuous steel edge form secured with three-quarter-inch-diameter field plug welds at twelve inches on center. Two continuous number four reinforcing bars run parallel to the edge, supplemented by transverse number three bars spaced at twelve inches. The top flange bears on the steel edge beam with a three-inch minimum bearing width. Additional stabilization is provided by either fourteen-gauge by one-inch wide straps at thirty-six inches maximum or three-inch by fourteen-gauge Z-clips welded to the edge form and edge beam at twenty-four inches on center. The contractor is required to check the adequacy of the edge form.
