Wide-flange steel beams frame into a continuous wide-flange steel column using bolted shear tabs welded to the column flange. A half-inch thick cap plate sits atop the column with a one-inch maximum clearance. Shear tabs are connected with bolts sized per the typical beam connection schedule and welded with three-sixteenth inch welds on near side and far side three sides. Clearances include one and a half inch typical dimensions from the column centerline and flange face.
