The continuity plate is specified to match the thickness of the beam flange and the width of the column flange, using Grade 50 steel. The plate is positioned with a holdback of one-half the beam flange thickness plus one-eighth inch at each end, secured with a fillet weld. The plate edges feature a minimum one-half inch radius. The assembly maintains a minimum K2 plus one-half inch dimension from the column flange face and a maximum K1 plus one-half inch dimension relative to the beam centerline.
