A WT structural shape connects to the top flange of a wide flange beam, supporting a composite metal deck slab overhead. Shims are installed as required between the metal deck and the top of the supporting steel members. The WT shape is welded to the beam flange with a quarter-inch fillet weld spaced at twelve inches on center. One-quarter-inch stiffener plates are placed on each side of the WT shape at four feet on center, positioned six inches from each end of the WT.
