This assembly connects a hollow structural section wind girt to a wide flange steel column using a three-eighths inch thick minimum center plate. The center plate is welded to the steel column with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds on both sides. The hollow structural section wind girt is secured to the center plate using three-quarter inch diameter through-bolts, with a one and one-half inch typical spacing. The assembly maintains a minimum one-half inch clearance between the wind girt and the insulated metal paneling system provided by others. Cold-formed steel studs are positioned adjacent to the assembly as specified by others.
