A vertical step in a concrete slab-on-grade bears on compacted subgrade and crushed stone base. The concrete slab incorporates number four reinforcing bars placed at sixteen inches on center and matched to the main slab reinforcing when the step height exceeds two and one-half inches. A one-foot six-inch lap splice length is provided for the reinforcement bars. A maximum one-foot step dimension applies, with further architectural coordination required as noted.
