An HSS 6x6 top rail connects to vertical HSS 6x6 posts at the entry structure. A one-quarter-inch end plate, matching the HSS profile, is welded to each side typically with a groove weld. The top rail frames into the top of the post with a three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld.
