A steel column connects to a three-quarter-inch thick steel base plate secured by two three-quarter-inch diameter expansion anchors. The base plate bears on a concrete slab over a steel deck. A steel beam runs below the deck with beam web stiffener plates on each side. A three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld typically connects the column to the base plate.
