A cold-formed metal wall stud connects to a structural steel beam and overhead floor or roof deck, allowing for independent vertical movement. A drift track clip is secured to the edge of the structural floor or roof deck alongside the steel beam. A vertical deflection clip fastens the wall stud to the drift track assembly with slotted fasteners to accommodate slab deflection without transferring vertical loads to the partition.
