A treated number two or better Southern Pine two-by-eight or larger wood nailer is anchored to the concrete parapet using one-half inch diameter by ten inch long hot-dipped galvanized carriage bolts with a minimum yield strength of thirty-six thousand pounds per square inch. The carriage bolts are countersunk a maximum of three-quarters of an inch, installed flush with the bottom nut, and secured with a washer and additional nut on top. Bolts are spaced at a maximum of twenty-four inches on center, with a twelve-inch on center maximum spacing within twenty-four feet of each corner, and staggered to maintain edge distances. A minimum of four inches is maintained to the edge of the concrete, with specific clearances required from any pockets. The assembly is designed for a maximum of one hundred fifty pounds per square foot code-level corner wind uplift, and gutter tie-back straps must be limited to two hundred pounds of perpendicular load on the blocking.
