A structural steel column splice connection rests on wide flange and channel beams with a concrete fill over metal deck slab. A square plate measuring one and a half inches thick by fifteen inches square sits beneath the column base. Full-depth five-eighths-inch plates are provided on each side of the connection, secured by six seven-eighths-inch diameter high-strength bolts spaced typically at six inches and one and a half inches with vertical spacings of two inches and four inches. A five-sixteenths-inch fillet weld is applied to three sides typically. A walking pad is included where specified by architectural drawings.
