Shear studs are welded through metal deck to structural steel beams using either single or double row configurations depending on deck orientation. When deck runs parallel to the beam, studs are placed in a single row with spacing ranging from four and a half inches minimum to thirty-two inches maximum. When deck runs perpendicular to the beam, studs are arranged in one or two rows across the fluted deck profile with one and a half inch edge clearances. Stud size, type, and spacing follow structural general notes.
