A galvanized W12 wide flange beam supports three-inch laminated timber decking secured with a two-inch wood nailer. The bottom flange of the W12 is trimmed as shown, terminating two feet from the end with a one-inch setback. A three-eighths-inch full-depth stiffener plate is welded to each side of the web using one-eighth-inch fillet welds. The W12 rests on a W18 supporting member via an HSS 4x4x1/4 hollow structural section, welded with quarter-inch fillet welds. Section A-A details a half-inch by six-inch by zero-foot-ten-inch plate secured with four seven-eighths-inch diameter high-strength bolts.
