An L3x3x3/8 diagonal brace is connected to the top flange of the nearest steel beam using a 1/4 inch by 6 inch by 6 inch weld plate skewed as required. The connection plate is secured to the beam flange with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld, with an option for the contractor to provide a bolted connection using two 7/8 inch diameter A325 bolts instead of a field weld. The diagonal brace is welded to the plate with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld on both sides.
