A structural steel beam with horizontal short slotted holes connects to a concrete wall using a half-inch ASTM A572 Grade 50 plate on each side of the steel beam, secured with eight seven-eighth-inch diameter A325-N bolts. The connection is anchored to the concrete wall by a one-inch embedment plate featuring sixteen seven-eighth-inch headed studs embedded twelve inches into the concrete. The concrete wall is reinforced with vertical and horizontal bars, including four number-five bars with 135-degree hooks top and bottom, and two number-four bars at each row of studs. Three-eighths-inch fillet welds secure the connection plates.
