An incoming hollow structural section beam frames into a wide-flange supporting column using an end plate connection. The connection utilizes a one-half-inch stiffener plate welded with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld on three sides. The beam flanges connect to the column flange with partial-joint-penetration welds sized at five-sixteenths of an inch and one-quarter of an inch. An incoming beam is omitted for clarity at the web. Additional one-quarter-inch fillet welds are provided typically.
