This suspended gypsum board ceiling detail features a gypsum board ceiling attached to furring channels with ASTM C 1002 Type S screws featuring a corrosion-resistant treatment spaced at a maximum of 12 inches on center. The furring channels connect perpendicularly to main runners suspended by hanger wires located a maximum of 6 inches from the wall with a 1-inch minimum clearance. The perimeter of the ceiling is supported by a continuous 1-inch by 2-inch by 24-gauge angle secured to the wall with number 10 sheet metal screws spaced at a maximum of 24 inches on center. The main runners are secured to the continuous angle with number 10 sheet metal screws at each runner location, maintaining a half-inch minimum clearance.
